Equipment, one of the most crucial components in construction, is one of the pillars of Punj Lloyd. We have a huge fleet of equipment, enabling prompt mobilisation to project sites around the world, ensuring timely completion.
Our equipment asset is one of the most outstanding in Asia. Large and young, our equipment fleet is updated to maintain our competitive advantage. Equipment asset planning, procuring, tracking, maintaining and retiring are closely monitored with Oracle eAM, a software that handles over 12,500 items of equipment, in over 190 categories, across project sites all over the world. This ensures timely audits for preventive maintenance and supports our highly skilled operations and maintenance crew to minimise downtime of equipment at project sites.
From earthmoving, material handling, pipeline laying to road construction and amphibian equipment, our fleet is continuously increased to maintain our competitive edge and constantly managed at the highest level for optimal performance. Our technical team is highly experienced and practises the highest HSEQ standards with comprehensive and preventive conditional maintenance. The team proficiently manages our enormous equipment base through a state-of-the-art asset management system that documents each piece of equipment’s technical specifications, location, condition, complete utilisation and maintenance history.
Marine & Amphibian Equipment
Our unrivalled fleet of marine and amphibian equipment includes swamp excavators, dredgers, marsh buggies, swamp cranes and other specialized equipment that strengthen our offshore expertise. In addition, we have four work barges with specific capabilities. Mahesh 1, a pipelay barge which has laid pipelines in water depths up to 65 m. Madhwa, a derrick barge with crane capacity of 650 T and accommodation for 300 people, is purpose-built for riser installations, flexible pipelines and composite cable installations. Ganpati, a push pull barge for pipelaying in shore approach. Kuber, a pipelay barge to lay pipelines up to 60” dia with concrete coating and in water depths up to 150 m.
Pipelaying
We own over 170 pipelayers ranging from capacity of 20 T to 100 T. The pipelaying equipment ranges from boring machines, trenchers, horizontal drilling rigs, excavators, dozers, pipe benders, automatic welding machines and other specialised equipment required to lay 56” dia pipelines. Based on our equipment potential, we can simultaneously manage 29 spreads of pipeline equipment, handling up to 56” dia pipelines.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
We own the largest fleet of Maxi HDD rigs in India, including three 250 T rigs and one 400 T rig. Overseas we have one 250 T rig in Kazakhstan and one 250 T rig in Malaysia for crossings of large diameter. We have laid pipelines under expressways, railways, rivers, shore approaches, creeks and canals in crossings of over 95,000 m length. Our HDD rigs also contribute to environmental protection, as they cause minimum damage to the natural surroundings.
Vibratory Pile Driver / Extractor
We are one of the select few in the world using hydraulic vibratory hammers for driving piles of diameters ranging from 450 to 600 mm. Our 7 T and 10 T capacity hydraulic hammers mounted on leader cranes are capable of driving piles up to 30 m. Applied in combination with our hydraulic extractor, the hydraulic hammers are also used for sheet piling.
Road Construction
We have 13 sets of bituminous road equipment and three sets of concrete equipment. The specialised fleet of equipment include cold milling machines, pavers capable of paving up to 12 m, asphalt mixing plants up to capacity of 160 TPH, batching plants up to capacity of 120 m3/hr, slip form pavers, graders up to 190 HP, transit mixers and all other specialised equipment for road construction.
Heavy Lifting Cranes
Our expertise in heavy lifting has proved to be a critical factor in the successful completion of projects. We are proud owners of around 200 cranes ranging from 8 T – 1,200 T including crawler, tyre mounted and tower cranes. Our 300 T mobile crane, 25-storey high when raised to its full capacity, was used to
lift vessels for the SGP Offsite and Utilities mechanical work at our Tengizchevroil site in Kazakhstan. The synergy of man and machine achieved this complex task of lifting the equipment in one piece within the restricted space of a refinery.
Precast Concrete Components
We have expertise in precast and prefabrication technology for over two decades. As a result of our specialised focus and innovation, our integrated precast solutions enable faster and more efficient project completion, including the unique ability to produce and erect buildings four storeys at a time. Our rich
experience and high quality standards have established us to offer custom-configured precast solutions including tunnel segments, volumetric components, facades, parapets, beams, viaducts, slabs, prestressed planks, columns, hollowcore slabs, lightweight panels, precast toilets, staircases and more.
Based on our equipment assets, we can simultaneously manage:
Our flotilla of barges includes two pipelay barges, a hook-up cum accommodation barge and a ‘push pull’ barge. Kuber, our latest addition is a non self-propelled S-type barge that can lay 4” to 60” dia pipes in sea, besides maintaining and repairing existing pipelines. With Kuber, our fourth barge, we can claim to have one of the most sophisticated flotilla of barges needed for offshore business.
Consolidating our strength in equipment are our central workshops and maintenance yards in India, Indonesia, Abu Dhabi and Kazakhstan. With a combined area of more than 245,000 m2 for equipment maintenance and repair, storage and fabrication facilities, they regularly handle the complete overhauling and refurbishment of all our equipment to maintain peak performance, as well as conformance to international standards of safety, health, security and environment.
